Resolution (one of the largest family law organisations in England and Wales with 6500 members) are campaigning for a change in the law surrounding divorce and the introduction of No Fault Divorce. In a recent survey of their members, over 90% agree that no fault divorce should be available to separating couples.

They are arguing that couples should be allowed to separate without having to blame one of the parties on a legal document. The change they have proposed would remove the need to wait at least two years before they can divorce.

Divorce is difficult enough. The legal requirement to assign blame makes it harder for couples to reach an amicable agreement. It also makes it harder for family justice professionals to help them resolve issues in a constructive way.
